UNDERGRADUATE PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM (BACHELOR)

UNDERGRADUATE PROFESSIONAL STUDY PROGRAM IN APPLIED COMPUTER ENGINEERING

The Algebra University College offers a Professional study program in Applied Computer Engineering with two sub-specializations:

Sub-specialization Software Engineering provides education in programming, development and maintenance of complex applications and information systems.

Sub-specialization System Engineering provides education in design and maintenance of computer systems and networks.

Additional specialization is possible through elective courses, seminar papers and final thesis. The study program is organized in study years. A necessary condition for enrollment in the following year of study is the completion of the previous year, i.e. completion of all exams of the previous year of study. Students enroll in the following year of study in the winter semester, and enrollment in the summer semester of the same year is carried out automatically. In addition, each course can require several prerequisites – courses which should be passed in order to pass the course in question. In this case, the course can be taken, regardless of the enrollment in a semester or a year, only if all courses (prerequisites) have been passed.

The obligations of students for each particular course are determined by the teacher in charge of the course. Each course of the study program is related to a corresponding number of ECTS credits. The number of ECTS credits is determined by the number of school hours that a student needs to invest in order to master the subject matter, which includes active teaching (lectures and exercises) as well as work at home. It is assumed that one ECTS credit is worth 30 hours of student work. The average weekly workload is about 22-24 school hours spent at the Algebra University College and about 15 to 20 hours at home. The number of ECTS credits that a student should obtain per semester is 30.

Each year of study (two semesters) is valued with 60 ECTS credits. The preparation of the final paper/project which is carried out as a part of professional practice during the final sixth semester is rated at 10 ECTS credits. The total number of ECTS credits required to complete the study program and obtain a diploma is 180 credits.
